If you have a small business and need a nearby web designer to manage your website consider me. I address problems including:

All new websites that I create employ contemporary responsive design meaning that they should reach the greatest possible audience.

Mobile-friendly

Mobile-friendly describes websites designed to display well on many device types and screen sizes. With earlier technology the designer/developer had to create multiple versions of a website, each version targeting a particular device or screen size. There were two main problems with early mobile design - excessive administration and new devices regularly emarged meaning back to the drawing baord.

What is Responsive Design?

Responsive can be described as a design style in which the boxes, columns and images adjust according to the device you're using to view the page, regardless whether you're using a laptop CP, smartphone, desktop computer or mid-sized iPad.

True responsive design came along thanks to some advanceds in technology. Responsive design is a significant improvement over earlier design because for the most part it meant less administration (duplicating content) and not having to create custom templates for each device type.

Is it responsive?

First try using an emulator to give you an idea of what it looks like. Here are just a few emulation services:

Next, visit it with a desktop computer and any common browser - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Apple Safari. Start off with the browser wide, maybe full screen. There may be a lot of blank space flanking the main content section. Slowly squeeze the browser until the edges approach the content edge. Keep squeezing and watch to see if boxes, videos and images re-adjust or remain fixed but a horizontal scrollbar appears. If the latter, then it's not a truly responsive design and may not work well on some intermediate-sized devices. With a good responsive design the main maenu, logo, banner and all content will adjust according to need.

Why does it matter?

The point here is that a fully responsive design will reach the greatest audience, the most customers. With a very old static design prospects who visit the website will look once and bounce on to another provider.

I only work with contemporary responsive websites, focusing on the following technologies:

I also write up administration docs and provide training as necessary to clients so that they can be as self-sufficient as possible.
