No, the person in the banner image is not me. I chose the photograph because it speaks to power, emotion, and achievement. Sometimes you have to go out on a limb—and out of your way—to get something right.
My background is in photography. I appreciate powerful images in both black and white and color. Color can create countless combinations of mood and atmosphere, while black and white often brings out drama, emotion, and a sense of the surreal.
After earning a BA in Photography from Ohio State, I traveled through Europe and Asia before settling into a different direction. A temporary job providing technical support at Sun Microsystems in California showed me how much I enjoyed solving problems, helping people, and presenting information clearly.
That eventually led to PHP/MySQL development, website design, content-management systems, and custom business applications. That is the Reader's Digest version.

These are some of my favorite images from my years as a photographer, primarily from 1980 through 1988. They were created with film cameras, including a Bronica 2 1/4 × 2 3/4 medium-format camera and a 4 × 5-inch Wista view camera.
Those were most certainly the days.
